KINTSUGI

As a ceramic designer breakages are an unfortunately part of the gig. Kintsugi is a 15th Century Japanese technique that uses lacquer to repair broken ceramics. I discovered this technique last year, when my friend broke the lid of her favourite teapot and her boyfriend used a Kintsugi kit to repair it, with a beautiful gold finish which highlighted the repair.

I’ve had some items in my studio that I’ve wanted to repair for ages, so I purchased a Humade Kintsugi kit from Sway Gallery London, which also sat in my studio for ages.

The kit really exceeded my expectations. Super easy instructions and the packaging itself can be used for mixing the glue!
